Gil Loomis couldn’t believe it when he received the call. He had been selected to receive an all-expenses paid trip to Washington D.C. But for anyone who knows Gil, the retired US Army Corporal who has been an active member in the VA community in Lynnwood, Washington for many years, it was a trip well deserved. In October 2017, he joined 60 other veterans on an Honor Flight.
Honor Flight is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing veterans with honor and closure. Each year they send thousands of veterans on an all-expenses paid trip to Washington, D.C. so that they may visit the memorials built in their honor. For many veterans the trip provides them with an opportunity to look back, reflect, and share their story in a way they haven’t before.
Chris Hall and Ken Sylvia presented a check to Puget Sound Honor Flight during the October Homecoming Ceremony
Our partnership with this amazing organization began after Chris Hall, Chief Operating Officer, stumbled upon an Honor Flight departure at the airport. Now, three years later, we’ve donated over $100,000 to the organization.
In 2017, our Sales team supported Honor Flight through an internal competition. For each thematic display built in stores throughout the summer months, we made another donation to Honor Flight. This year, the team surpassed all our expectations with over 490 displays built. With the help of our distributors, we were able to raise $79,000, more than enough to fund Mr. Loomis’ entire flight!
A tradition we’re proud to continue, we’re committed to supporting Honor Flight’s mission to honor our veterans for their sacrifice and service. Veterans, we salute you!
